3 Regular Things That Could Be Damaging Your Vehicle’s Paint Job

Outside of a car accident, there are lots of things which can damage the paint on your vehicle. To take good care of the new paint job on your vehicle, you need to understand what else can damage your vehicle's paint job.

#1 Tree Sap

When you park your car outside, you should be careful where you park it. Avoid parking your vehicle underneath a tree. When you park underneath a tree, the sap from the tree can drip down onto your vehicle. When sap is left on your vehicle, it can do some serious damage. Sap can leave splotches on your vehicle if it is left alone. When you see sap on your vehicle, you need to wipe it off and then clean the area.

#2 Bird Dropping

Birds seem to come with trees. If you park under a tree, there is a good chance that birds will also be in the area of your car and bird droppings could end up on your car. Bird droppings are not good for your vehicle's paint job. Bird dropping often contains the remains of acidic berries, which can eat away at your paint job. Plus, bird droppings are rough and can cause even more damage if you don't remove them correctly. To get rid of the bird dropping, you are going to want to spray some water on the droppings to soften them up before you wipe them away. This will allow you to remove the bird droppings without damaging your vehicle.

#3 Bugs

Bugs splattering on your vehicle is a natural occurrence, but it can be damaging when left on your car for long periods of times. That is why you often see shields across the front of people's bumpers: to protect your vehicle from bug bodies.

Bug bodies are damaging for two reasons. One reason is that bug's bodies can be acidic, just like bird droppings. Bug bodies can also get etched into the top layers of your paint as well. You should clean off the front of your car frequently, especially during the summer time. The best way to clean off your vehicle from bug splatter is by using a bug and tar remover.

To protect your vehicle's paint jobs, you need to be aware of all the different things that can damage your vehicle's paint job. Try to avoid parking under trees and near areas where birds gather. Wash your vehicle frequently to keep the paint job looking great.
